Lets talk about Re Zero an anime that everyone discusses but I think most people misunderstand it

Main strength Subaru a weak hero who actually feels like a real person

Unlike most isekai shows that give you a perfect overpowered hero Re Zero gives you an ordinary boy who knows nothing Subaru is weak he is scared he brags he makes mistakes he destroys his own relationships and this is exactly what makes the anime great those moments when Subaru screams at Emilia in episode eighteen you honestly cheer for him ruining himself because showing your broken side is real courage not pretending to be strong

The death and return system is the toughest mechanic in anime

Re Zero has no mercy Subaru dies over and over each time more brutally and each time he must live with the memory of that pain what makes this system special is that it is not just a cool power it becomes a curse that Subaru hates and the audience hates along with him in arc four when he has to watch his friends get torn apart again and again you truly feel this boy cannot take anymore

Big weakness some arcs are painfully dragged out

Let me be honest arc three the white whale arc is way too long it could have been finished in half the time but it stretches just to reach that final scene where Subaru talks to Betelgeuse yes that scene is one of the best in anime history but the road to get there is filled with repeated dialogue and spinning in circles

Also some side characters like Felix and Crusch barely get any development even though they have so much potential

Female characters Emilia Ram and Rem

Many critics say Re Zero writes its female characters just to fall in love with Subaru but that is not true Emilia has her own growth in arc four we see she can make decisions without Subaru Ram is one of the smartest and most cunning characters in the series everyone just thinks she is simple minded Rem is not just some fake childish girl she is a two thousand year old creature playing a role

The real weak point is that sometimes Subaru complains way too much I know it is part of his character but in some episodes of arc one and two you really want to slap him and say enough already

This anime teaches you that failure is only over when you stop getting up Subaru loses everything many times but he gets up not because he is brave but because he has no choice and that is so much more real than those heroes who never cry
